That it's February already?

We open up shop again in less than

6 weeks....gulp.

We have so much to do in so little

time...as you can see I have not had

a whole lot of time to blog, you

will have to forgive me!

We have been busy painting furniture...

...and unpacking all the boxes upon boxes of

merchandise that has started to arrive from

the show, and only a fraction of what

we ordered has arrived so far, which

means the next few weeks will be

filled with lots of unpacking.

Beautiful pottery that arrived a few days ago.

I'll try and keep you updated

on what we have coming!

Don't forget...we open

March 12!

Our Antique finds

Antiquing, junkin,

treasure hunting,

dumpster diving,

thrifting, picking,

or whatever it's

called these days.

Wherever we have to go,

we will go, if it means

finding that one a kind piece

that you just

can't find anywhere,

(and if the price is right)

we will be there.

Since we closed for the

season back in December,

we have been able to

go out treasure hunting

a few times.

Home sweet home

We arrived back to our home

sweet home this past Monday.

We drove down to Atlanta, which

surprisingly was not that bad!

You would think that 13 hours in a

car, straight there, no stopping,

would be be horrible, but

throw in a book on tape and lots

of goodies to munch on, and

it goes by pretty smoothly.

The show itself was a blast!

As usual, we found LOTS of adorably

cute things! It's funny,

a lot of people ask us if we take

a trailer down with us and load everything

back with us, which is a pretty

normal question I guess...

but the answer is no, we do

not. If we did, it would

take us a whole lot of trips

back and forth. We set up

ship dates while we are there

so everything

we order comes on the dates

we say, a whole lot

easier than us loading

a trailer and hauling it 13 hours up

north, THAT would be

a sight to see!

Apron anyone?

We have been busy busy

buying lots of adorable things for

our shop!

We found the most ADORABLE

adult and children's aprons

today...I can't wait to display them

once we open in March.

(that's how cute they are :)

I mean really? Look at these,

who wouldn't want to wear that?

To go along with these cute aprons

we got matching tea towels, napkins,

and pot holders...also CUTE!

Goal for 2012

how to use one of these...

I have had one sitting in my

bedroom for the past year

staring at me, just waiting for me

to sit down and create something beautiful.

This is the year, I can feel it

DIY paper chandelier

A few posts ago I showed you this

Paper Chandelier, and then I

told you how I was going to attempt

(key word: attempt) to make one

of theses...well?

Ahem...ahem may I have your

attention please?

Drum roll....

Well? what do you think?

I was thinking of hanging it either

in our craft room, or it would

be adorable in a little girls room...

So many options :)

I started by wrapping ribbon, and or

fabric around the entire shade.

( I used a hot glue gun,
it worked perfectly!)

After wrapping all the ribbon,

I took string and glued cute paper onto

it, any which way is good, there's

no right or wrong way with this one.

After tieing all the strings onto the

shade, all that's left to do is

embellish! Yay! I added a pearl garland

around the top, and punched out

paper butterflies, and stars to mine.

You can do whatever you want, adding

your own personality is what

makes this so fun. :)

Isn't she a beauty?

Probably not everyones

taste out there, but I think

it's adorable!

It flew by! I can not believe we are already

done, it's crazy how fast each season goes by.

We are planning on reopening for

the Spring season March 12,

DIY Christmas Ornament

If you need a easy and fun project to

do this holiday season you should

try this one out! All you need are

a few simple ingredients and

the end product is SO cute!

It's a perfect craft to do for

a girls night!

This is what you will need...

~ Modge podge

~ Clear glass ornaments

~ Ribbon

~ Glitter

~ Paper of your choice

Take your clear glass ornament and

brush a coat of modge podge onto

the glass, put your paper on

the glue and brush another coat

over top of the paper. Make sure

there are no bubbles in the paper.

(I always use my thumb to flatten the

paper down, which works really well)

Once your ornament is covered

in paper, brush another coat of

modge podge over the whole

ornament and sprinkle glitter over

the whole thing.

(it does make a mess, just so you know)

I chose this vintage looking

velvet ribbon to hang mine from.

One of my favorites!

Finished! What do you think?

Adorable, right? :)

Cran ~ Pistachio cookie yumness

Yes, I just used the word yumness

it is now considered a word in my

vocabulary.

I love this time of year,

because of all the yummy

recipes and food you get to

eat! I found this recipe off of

pinterest and couldn't resist

giving it a try. If you are in need

of a good Christmas cookie recipe this

one is perfect!

You will need ~

1 pouch of Betty Crocker sugar cookie mix

1 box (4 serving size) pistachio instant pudding and pie filling

1/4 cup of flour

1/2 cup butter, melted

2 eggs

1 cup dry roasted salted pistachios nuts, chopped

1/2 cup dried cranberries, chopped

optional ~ green food coloring ( I didn't add any, but if you want

them extra green you can)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

In a large bowl stir cookie mix, pudding and flour.

Add melted butter and eggs, stir until incorporated.

Add pistachios and cranberries mix well

(I chopped them in the food processor, which worked

really well! )

Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto a parchment

lined cookie sheet. (I sprayed my cookie

sheets which worked just as good.)

Bake for 8 to 10 minutes. The only way you can ruin

these cookies is by over baking them! If you bake them too long

you will lose the green color and soft texture.

They won't look done, but trust me,

let them cool on the cookie sheets

for about 2 minutes, and they will turn out perfect! :)

Cool on a wire rack, and store in an airtight container.

Makes about 2 dozen cookies.

~ Eat and enjoy ~

They really are delicious!

I had a cookie exchange with some

friends last night...I hope they

are all enjoying their

cookies :)

A little glitter anyone?

Is it possible to have too

much glitter around this

time of year? Probably, but...

Today I am all about the glitter...

bring it on!

For today's project you will need...

~ A hot glue gun

~ Modge podge

~ Oasis foam

(or floral foam)

~ Clay pots

~ Fake snow

~ Old ornaments

~ Any miniature (fairy)

accessories

~ and of course

Glitter!

First thing you will want to do is

fill your clay pot with foam, (you can glue

it to the bottom of the pot if you want, but isn't necessary)

After you put your foam in, you can brush modge podge

around the rim of the pot and sprinkle (or pile on)

the glitter! (similar to the above picture)

From here it's all up to what you want your little

figurine to look like!

Here are some pictures of what I did to give

you an idea...

I glued vintage buttons to

the rim of one of my clay pots, then

brushed some modge podge, and

sprinkled with glitter...

Now go get crafting!

It's super easy, but messy, so

be sure to have a box to sprinkle the glitter

over so you don't make a mess everywhere, unless

that is of course if you want glitter everywhere :)

Holiday Open House

I don't know about all of you

out there, but we did NOT brave the crowds

this morning, for the annual black

Friday deals. It just didn't appeal to us this year.

I don't know, maybe it had something to do

with the standing in line for hours, and getting

out of bed at 3 in the morning to buy

more stuff we don't need. Hmm...

maybe next year I will? OR

maybe I will later today when

all the crazy people are back home, to

see what scraps they left behind. :)

So the real reason I'm writing this post,

( is not to rant on about black Friday..)

but to remind you all about our

HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE

which is TOMORROW!

We will be opening our doors at 9am and

will be open all day until 6pm.

We will be serving up all sorts of

homemade goodies!

The first 50 customers will receive

a FREE ornament! We will also have a

drawing to win a pink vintage house!

(see previous post)

There will be a wine punchbowl

in the afternoon and into the night.

Who doesn't love that?

Repurposed

We always have "junk"

laying around here at the

shop. Why would we throw away

what we can repurpose into

something new and beautiful?

So, yesterday I took these little

tin boxes we had and decoupaged

old music paper over them, added

a little glitter, and some buttons

viola! Something beautiful, and

just in time to put a little

Christmas gift in.

Here take a look...

First, you will need Mod Podge, a

cheap brush, and some paper.

(I chose vintage music paper, but you can

use whatever you want.)

After the glue dried, I took

our hot glue gun and glued

buttons on the cover, just

to add a little interest and

because it's just cute...

who doesn't love buttons?

Finished! What do you think?

It's the perfect size to fill

with Christmas cookies or candies

and give to a friend...and to

think this could have ended up

in the trash!

This is what it looked like before

in the middle and the finished product.

I hope you think twice before you throw

something away. There is always

another purpose for those

certain pieces of "junk"

Yes, I said it

and it's true...

around here at least

we are getting ready for our

BIG Holiday Open House

which is NEXT week already!

I can't believe how fast the time is

flying by...they are already playing

Christmas music on the radio

and have been for a few weeks already,

(in my opinion just a wee too early)

and yes we have our Christmas

decorations out already too...

but such is the life of

running a gift shop.

Vintage pyrex LOVE

Well, they're back, and so we have

jumped on the bandwagon and

started collecting them for our shop!

They are kind of adorable in

a vintage 70's kind of a way.

I do LOVE all the colors! They

would make any kitchen bright

and Cheery!

As you know, last

Saturday we had our Flea market,

and it was such a great success!!

I have a feeling this will become an annual

thing, and will hopefully grow

and grow and grow...

We had the MOST DELISH pumpkin donuts

from Robinettes there! Mmm..I

had to restrain myself from eating

more than just 1!

We couldn't have asked for a better

day! The weather was beautiful!

There were so many other vendors

there that I just didn't get a chance to take

pictures of! Thank You to everyone who had

a booth, it wouldn't have been the same

without all of you!

Also, ALL of our customers, friends,

and family that came out on Saturday

YOU all made it such a good day!

We had SO much fun putting all of this

together, and hopefully next

Spring we can do this again!

I walked into the shop today and

saw the latest Country Living Magazine

laying on the counter with the

most adorable pumpkins on the cover!

Which then naturally I hopped

online and went to the website,

where they had so many adorable ideas!

FLEA MARKET!

If you didn't already know,
then you better write it down

and save the date, because we are going

to have our first ever

FLEA MARKET!!

On Saturday, October 1,
all day from 9am til 5 pm.

We are SO excited about our Flea Market,

and hopefully...keeping our fingers crossed,

this thing could go somewhere!

We love our city and love Michigan,

but I don't know of any

Antique flea markets

(similar to country living fair)

that are in our wonderful state.

If anyone knows of any...PLEASE

let us know, we will be there!

Our plan, is to create

a place for women to sell

and display their goods, a place

that is beautiful and unique. We don't

want it to look like a garage sale, or

a craft show...but a Flea market,

a nice, beautiful market.

So if you are in the Grand Rapids area

on October 1 look us up!

Remember it's our first one ever,

we hope to achieve what we have

dreamed in our minds, but there

is always room for improvement.

We can't wait, and we hope

The other day, we had a HUGE

shipment of new merchandise in!

We have literally been unpacking

boxes upon boxes for the past

2 days straight.

We have been busy busy!

shop has been tipped upside down!

Weddings, weddings, and weddings,

that's how I feel my summer has been

going so far, 1 after the other,

and of course since I help brides

on their special day it's only

appropriate that I always be

looking for new and fresh creative

ideas. I also LOVE just

googleing all sorts of things

and I'm never disappointed.

We have been working hard in the shop

getting everything ready for opening day!

We plan on reopening for the Fall

and Christmas season on September 6, 2011,

that is less than 1 month away!

We are SO ready, and excited to get back in the

shop and see all of our customers again!

It's always a much needed break when the time

comes, but always a joy to be back again.

Just the other day I stopped and picked up a copy

of Artful blogging and Where women create

seriously if you want to be inspired or get inspired

THIS is the magazine to buy, It always gives me

a little jolt of inspiration...JUST what I needed!

There are SO many talented and creative women out there,
I love paging through the magazines and reading
their stories, learning about how they create
everyday, just like we do! It's such an inspiration
to me and to my mom!

Garden trials!

There are SO many ideas out there
for gardening! Last week we went out to
the garden trials, and found some
really good ones for next year!

I can't believe it's going to be
September in less than a month,
and we are already thinking about
what to do next summer!
Time flies!

play houses and I want one!

Would LOVE to build one of these in our garden

for our little girl tea parties!

one, they would be perfect for little

girl tea parties!

Since we are now closed for the season,

we have been working on projects around the house.

I am in the process of moving my bedroom downstairs,

and have been painting the walls, and painting furniture,

and looking for inspiration....so where do I go?

Google of course...:)

I painted my walls white, I like to start off with a nice

empty canvas, and painted my wooden bed frame a

light grey, and we found this adorable light pink and white

chenille bed spread, that I'm going to use...I'm still

working on it, but I will have to share some photos when

the room is all finished.
